Las Vegas is one of the most glamorous and happening places in the entire world having several mega casino hotels each of them decorated lavishly and with great creativity. It's a major vacation and gambling (gaming) destination. Not only Las Vegas has one of the best hotels and resorts, but it is also a popular place for getting married. Over 35 million tourists visit this city each year. Most of the tourism happens close to a popular 3.5 mile street called 'Las Vegas Strip' (or Las Vegas Blvd) which extends from Stratosphere Hotel (Northern side) to Mandalay Bay Hotel (Southern end). The architecture of most of these hotels is extremely impressive and everyone is welcome to go in and enjoy. The city is also famous for its marvelous shows, adult entertainment and alcoholic beverages. It is quite difficult to believe but Vegas is actually built in the middle of Nevada's desert. Nevada state law requires that all gamblers must be at least 21 years of age and it is therefore advised to carry our ID at all times and present it if asked. For many of the machine games you will need a pre-paid cards which can be obtained from the counter.

Brief History:
Las Vegas was founded in the year 1905 in Clark County, Nevada (USA). The starting of construction of the Hoover dam (70 story high dam and among wonders of modern world) in 1931 brought thousands of people around this area and the same year gambling was legalized in Nevada state. Soon several casinos started opening in Vegas. The lenient state laws allowed Las Vegas to be a popular wedding destination, with wedding chapels operating round the clock. Hotel Flamingo opened in 1946, Las Vegas Hilton in 1969, MGM grand in 1973 later renamed as Bally's. The Mirage, which opened in 1989 started the age of Mega resorts. The population of Vegas almost doubled between year 1990 and 2000.

COST / PRICE OF THESE MEGA RESORTS:
The prices of these hotel rooms fluctuate a lot depending on what time of the year you visit. Prices are higher on long weekends and usually lower in peak summer time. It is often said that in Vegas, customer is like a king, you can find premium luxury rooms and also rock bottom prices for economical rooms, similarly in gambling you will see high end roulette tables to even single penny slot machines, expensive buffets to bargain buffets. It just requires a bit of deal hunting.

Las Vegas Strip

The strip is the popular 3.5 mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard and is the most happening place in Vegas. There are magnificent mega resorts on either side of the Strip housing over 100,000 rooms. These Hotels and Casinos are the main attraction of Las Vegas. These Hotels constantly have a huge variety of shows including adult shows, dance performances, comedy and family shows going on almost at all times. Fremont Street Experience
Fremont Street experience is a famous attraction in downtown Las Vegas. This area is famous for casinos like Golden Nugget. The most famous attraction is the 90 feet high and 1400 feet wide screen made from millions of LED's. Colorful shows happen on this screen with over 500,000 watts of sound. People just stand below this screen and look above on the screen to watch colorful performances. Other shows include the light & sound show and a mall.

AIRPORT:
McCarran Airport (LAS) is located at the southern end of the Strip and is one of the busiest airports of the world. Las Vegas travel is largely convenient due to the McCarran Airport.

WEATHER:
Las Vegas gets hot during the summer months (June to Sept) and daytime high is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. In winter the lowest temperature is around 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Although any time is good to visit Vegas, the spring and fall seasons are generally considered the best time to visit.

FOOD:
Las Vegas Travel will offer you a wide variety of cuisines throughout the city. Several hotels will give you all you can eat (buffet) option for about $10 or even less. If you take alcoholic beverages then try the famous Vegas Margarita.
