It is the 7th largest country of Africa and one of the poorest in the world. It is bordered by Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and the Côte d'Ivoire. Most of the population lives in the country's south and features the Niger and Senegal rivers which is also the most fertile region. Mali gained independence from France on 22 September 1960. There's plenty of great crafts in Mali including silver and leather goods including jewellery, daggers, spears, swords and boxes which are also good shopping items to buy during your Mali tourism.
