Tangier (or Tangiers) is a popular tourism destination in North Morocco, located in Strait of Gibraltar where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital of the Tangier-Tetouan Region. Visitors are likely to enter Morocco by a ferry from Spain here via the Mediterranean, from the sea you will see vast rustic coastline outlined by Rif mountains. You can smell a light scent of sculpture that hangs in the air and the sultry atmosphere that accompanies it. The moment you come out of the boat there is a good chance that you will be surrounded by touts offering you to stay at a hotel or resort, just respond them politely that you are not interested, in fact you should avoid touts and tour guides in your whole trip of Tangier.

There are not too many guides in this area and Petit taxis and Walking is perhaps the best way to see the relatively compact Tangier. Most people Arabic but lot of them also understand French and Spanish. Understanding of English is limited.

The most popular bars include Deans Bar - located Rue Amerique Sud., English Bar - on Rue du Mexique next to Restaurant Negresco and Katoubia Palace - found on Rue al-Moutanabi; you can get a real eyeful at Egyptian belly-dancers. Overall Tangiers is not the city of seedy bars and debauched nightlife and you are more likely to have an entertaining night in one of the restaurants, cafes or hotel bars, many of which put on traditional entertainment at night. The traffic is not to much regulated and you may find it uncomfortable to drive by yourself.

Caves of Hercules: The caves of Hercules are situated 14km west of Tangier in the Cap Spartel area. It is a place of great beauty and archeological significance.

Museum of Moroccan Art: Here you will find all sorts of local goods, from Berber carpets to wood and metal antiques and ceramics.

Archaeological Museum: This museum holds artifacts dating back to the Stone Age, and preserved Roman mosaics.

Forbes Museum: A museum of toy soldiers.

Cap Spartel: The cape to the west where you will see sea, beaches and the lighthouse shines out across the Straights of Gibraltar.

Grand Socco: Outside the city walls is the Souk, where you will find traditional products being made and sold.

Petit Socco: An open space with cafés where you can take a break from shopping and strolling, and watch people from all cultures go by, located in the heart of the medina.

Kasbah: A complex of castles on top of the hill overlooking the city.
